Just north of the CBD and located in the City of Melbourne, Carlton is a colourful and vibrant suburb traditionally called Melbourne's very own 'little Italy' for its authentic Intalian restaurants and cafés that spill onto the bustling Lygon Street. Carlton's population is largly made up of young professionals working in Carlton or the inner city, as well as students of the University of Melbourne and RMIT. Rosso is a unique structure, designed by SJB, a collaborative group of architects, interior designers and town planners and developed by Evolve Development. The shell of the building was originally a old wool mill that once employed the local Italian immigrants. Iit has now been converted to a contemporary residential building with 58 apartments over 4 levels, with a mixture of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments all with car spaces. As can be seen in the above images, the standard of finishes is very high with stone benchtops, Smeg cooktop and oven, and contemporarily designed kitchens and bathrooms. Modern light fittings, wintergardens and the beautifully finished foyer area all add further appeal, along with the heritage of the original windows and shell of the old wool mill. |
